Sony has released the VAIO UX490N Ultra Mobile Micro PC and made it available for pre-ordering at a price of $2,499.
Among the special features which make the VAIO a relatively expensive device are the 2 built-in cameras, one of 0.3MP and the other of 1.3MP, a built-in mic, a wireless WAN support, a 48GB Solid State Drive to eliminate the seek time and latency of the standard HDDs, the large capacity battery and the Bluetooth GPS receiver.
We are talking about a powerful computer with a compact design finish that fits in your pocket, and that runs with an Intel Core 2 Solo U2200 Ultra Low Voltage processor at 1.2GHz speed, having a RAM memory of 1GB, DDR2 type, a GMA 950 graphics chip with 251MB memory, and a 4.5-inch wide touchscreen with a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.
The quality of the sound is ensured by the Windows sound system, compatible with built-in monaural speakers.
For extra storage, the micro PC supports an optional Memory Stick Duo with MagicGate functionality.
Other specialties of this ultra portable micro PC are the fingerprint scanner, the Wi-Fi technology, USB 2.0 port, and the Li-Ion battery with up to 3.5 hours of intensive use.
VAIO UX490N comes with the Vista Business platform installed.
