Acer, the Taiwanese computer giant is known for its budget devices as well as high performance big budget devices. Last year Acer was ranked as the 4th largest producer of computers in the world and is expected to hold its rank or even improve it considerably. The Aspire series of laptops and desktops which were introduced earlier in the 21st century are an important brand name in the computer devices market and are popular among the customer base.
The Acer Aspire M5 is the latest offering in the same series and is one of the most applauded devices that Acer has developed in the recent times.

Build And Design.

The Aspire M5 features a regular aluminum build chassis and has a textured feel to the same which gives it an added grip and a durable feel. The logo of Acer is placed in a different way compared to the previous models. It now features on the right side of the lid nearing the centre. Similar to its previous models Acer has once again gone for an unconventional placement of the power button on the device. This time they have placed it on the left side of the notebook leaving a user confused when he accesses the device for the first time to use. The keyboard of the device is spaced and every key hence has a separate base instead of the entire keyboard layout, also the keyboard features a useful backlight feature.

Features And Specifications.

The device boasts a 4th generation Intel Core i5-4200 U quad core processor which clocks in at 1.6 Ghz of processing speed. There is 8 GB DDR3 RAM as a system memory for the laptop. There is no dedicated graphics memory for the laptop and the graphics processing is done by the on board GPU present on the machine I.e the Intel HD Graphics 4400 with 128 MB of dedicated memory. The screen offers a maximum resolution of 1366×768 pixels and offers considerable picture clarity and resolution power compared to the type of the display. The machine weighs 2.3 kilograms and has dimensions 15.02×10.08×0.7 inches respectively.

The device is powered by a fourth generation Quad Core i5 family processor which gives it the edge it needs while handling heavy operations on the laptop. The laptop handles day to day tasks such as streaming online videos or heavy internet processing very easily. The machine scores average on the well known PC benchmarking softwares which are designed exclusively to measure the performing capabilities of a laptop or any such computing devices. It scores an average 970 in the 3DMark 11 benchmarking test which measures the 3D graphical handling capabilities of the machine. Thus it is capable of handling average games but is not at all suitable for heavy duty mainstream gaming. The Acer Aspire M5 has the best battery available in the market and has excellent power saving features. The 4 cell 3650mAH Lithium based battery works for a staggering 520 minutes of battery backup which beats its competitors with a huge margin and has absolutely no other competitor in this particular aspect.

Acer gives the user a number of very handy power saving features with its laptops and is always known for their long lasting laptops with respect to their battery life. The Windows 8 operating system which comes bundled with the system also handles the power saving functions along with the overall computational needs exceptionally well. The Acer Aspire M5 is an excellent machine and is one of the best power saving laptops available in the market right now.
